A Vision for Children’s Health - Enhancing Emergency Services for our Smallest Patients
The Need for Dedicated Pediatric Emergency Services
At St. Tammany Parish Hospital, the Emergency Department is critical to our community and has become the hospital’s new front door. The 2012 U.S. Census revealed that the largest segments of the Northshore populations are adults ages 35 – 54 and children ages 0 – 13. The census also indicated a significant growth in the population of families.
St. Tammany Parish Hospital has once again fulfilled its role as an outstanding community hospital by taking the lead in the fight for the wellbeing of our children. Construction has begun to enhance and advance our existing pediatric program with a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Room making STPH the cornerstone of future pediatric care in our parish.
Meeting the Need
For younger patients, the Emergency room will have dedicated pediatric emergency services with smaller-sized medical equipment and special beds. Some of the Pediatric Emergency Department features include:
- Separate Pediatric Waiting Area with Views of an Outdoor Healing Garden
- Five private Pediatric Treatment Rooms
- Pediatric Trauma Room
- Family Consultation Room
- Children’s Play Area
- Kid-Friendly Environment
- Pediatric Nurses Station and Support Spaces
Supporting the Health of our Children
