Would you like a little bubbly with your breast exam?

In recognition of National Mammography Day on Friday, Oct. 15, St. Tammany Health System’s Women’s Pavilion has scheduled a “Ladies Night Out” event that will include free food and champagne cocktails along with raffles, door prizes, educational vendors, pop-up shop vendors and more.

The event, being held as part of St. Tammany Hospital Foundation’s monthlong United in Pink campaign, which is running through the month of October, will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the STHS Women’s Pavilion, (301 N. Highway 190 in Covington).

The first 150 guests will each receive a ticket for a free meal and champagne cocktail. Additional meals and cocktails will be available for purchase.

Those who would like to schedule a mammogram should call (985)773-1500 to reserve their spot.

Most insurance programs cover annual mammograms, although STHS is offering a $99 cash special for those without insurance or whose insurance doesn’t cover mammograms.

“Early detection has proven to be vital to stopping breast cancer in its tracks, which is why we’re so diligent about reminding women to get their annual mammogram,” said Anne Pablovich, community outreach coordinator for St. Tammany Health System. “But who says you can’t take care of business and have a little fun in the process?”

Among the participating groups and businesses are:

  • Pyre Provisions
  • Dr. Devan Szczepanski of D.S. Family Medicine
  • YMCA
  • NAMI
  • Stone Creek Club & Spa
  • Eat Fit
  • Bra Genie
  • Mande Milkshakers
  • RPS Designs Jewelry
  • NOLA Lending
  • Camelia June Boutique
  • Creations By Bessy
  • LimeLife makeup
  • Majestic Dog Boutique
  • Pelvic Floor and Lymphedema Therapist
  • Legit Nutrition
  • Fleurty Girl

Also on-site will be two pink-wrapped St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office vehicles, which guests can sign for a $5 donation to cancer care; as well as St. Tammany Health System’s Be Well Bus, a 40-foot mobile health unit.

The United in Pink campaign is being held through October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Proceeds from the campaign benefit education, screening and early detection initiatives of St. Tammany Health System and patient care at St. Tammany Cancer Center, a campus of Ochsner Medical Center, as well as the Mauti Cancer Fund.
