What is St. Tammany Hospital Foundation and what do they do?
St. Tammany Hospital Foundation is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization that also serves as a department of the health system. Our role is to raise money to support the healing work that you do at St. Tammany Health System, funding vital programs, initiatives, facilities, technologies and equipment needed.
What is the One Heartbeat Employee Giving Campaign?
This campaign is the Foundation’s annual push to get support from colleagues so they can invest back into our place of work. In 2024, more than $136,000 was pledged by over 1,000 colleagues during the campaign. This funding goes to support countless programs and services the health system needs, but also provides nearly all of the annual funding for the Colleague Benevolent Fund that so many colleagues have benefitted from.
Why should I give?
That’s up to you! But, as many colleagues can attest, the foundation serves a vital role in the health system. In 2024 alone, we disbursed more than $742,000 back to STHS. Funds went to support causes such as hospice programs, patient services at the cancer center, various equipment purchases, Healing Arts programs, and much more! We encourage you to support what you’re most passionate about!
Can I give through payroll deduction?
Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it! This campaign is about strength in numbers. We have roughly 3,100 at STHS. If every colleague gave $5 per pay period that would raise over $400,000! However, we encourage each colleague to participate, and to give however much you are comfortable with. Your donation amount will always be kept totally confidential. The Foundation simply encourages as many colleagues to give as possible so that we can enhance the work you do at STHS.
What is a recurring gift?
There are 2 options to give through payroll deduction – pledge gifts and recurring gifts. Recurring gifts allow you to give any amount each pay period, to any fund of your choice, and this will continue on next year until you decide to make an adjustment or wish to discontinue your gift. That way, your generosity continues on and you don’t even need to worry about it for next year’s campaign.
Pledge gifts are payroll deduction gifts, but they only go on for as many pay periods as you tell us. So if you want to pledge a total of $100, you can deduct that in one pay period, or over the course of 26 pay periods.
How much should I give?
Again, this is up to you! Our average gift each year from each colleague is approximately $130 (over the course of a calendar year). To put that in perspective, that averages about $5 each pay period. BUT, it is completely up to you! Your participation is way more important than the amount you give.
